JOB OVERVIEW
This position is requested to strengthen the research initiatives of the Center for Professionalism and the Future of Medicine (the Center). The selected candidate will play a key role in enhancing the research and publication profile of the Center, contributing to answering key questions regarding the Center's objectives. The ACGME has aligned its interests with the research focus of the Center, particularly concerning the threats to professionalism recognized in Strategy 1 of the ACGME’s current Strategic Plan. The Center aims to be a critical contributor to ACGME strategy to uphold and advance altruistic professionalism within the medical field.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the research efforts of the Center by engaging in data collection, analysis, and interpretation related to professionalism and the future of medicine.
- Collaborate with national experts in meetings and discussions focused on key questions surrounding professionalism in the medical field.
- Contribute to the development of strategies and plans that support altruistic professionalism, in alignment with the ACGME Strategic Plan.
- Assist in the preparation and publication of research findings, enhancing the Center's scholarly output.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for research projects and initiatives.
- Participate in high-level discussions with national experts on professionalism and the future of medicine.
- Gain direct experience in data analysis and the research process, with opportunities to contribute to published works.
- Contribute to a significant strategic initiative of the ACGME, aimed at addressing and mitigating threats to professionalism in medicine.
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum
- Currently enrolled in a master’s or doctoral degree program.
- Ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues by using judgment consistent with standards, practices, policies, procedures.
- Superior organizational and workflow management skills, as well as proven project management skills.
- Strong attention to detail and expert follow-up skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Demonstrated ability to work closely and cooperatively with management and support staff members in a team or independent setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, and analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Close attention to detail and accuracy of work.
- Proficient computer skills, including using the internet, Adobe Acrobat, and Microsoft Office 365 suite, to include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, and OneDrive.
Preferred
- A research background, especially in medicine, health care policy, or the social sciences.
- High tolerance for working under stress of deadlines.
- Willingness to assist in other areas as requested, and a flexible, self-initiating approach to taking on other responsibilities and finding additional ways to contribute.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL SETS, AND ABILITIES
- Evidence of effective written and oral communication skills.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Detail-oriented with a strong sense of accuracy.
- Strong editing skills, with excellent accuracy, for reviewing own and others’ work.
- Skilled in working under tight timelines and comfortable balancing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
WORK ENVIRONMENT/CONDITIONS
Must be able to work efficiently and effectively in a remote setting.
