Founded in 1967, The Aesthetic Society is recognized as the world’s leading professional organization of ABPS (American Board of Plastic Surgery) board-certified plastic surgeons, solely dedicated to the art, science, and safe practice of aesthetic surgery and cosmetic medicine. Members are recognized as Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons to honor their many additional years of highly specialized training and their passionate commitment to their patients.  Legally known as the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, the Society recently underwent a rebranding process to “The Aesthetic Society”. 

Headquartered in Garden Grove, CA with a staff of 36 and $10M budget, The Aesthetic Society represents more than 2,600 members in the U.S and Canada, as well as international members, and is at the forefront of innovation in aesthetic plastic surgery.

The Aesthetic Society provides education through meetings and training for Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons and offers CME (Continuing Medical Education) and other educational resources for plastic surgeons and their staff.


The CME Compliance Manager is responsible for managing and documenting the Society’s compliance with the ACCME requirements to maintain our accreditation for the provision of continuing education.  (Recently completed reaccreditation interview with decision expected in December 2022.)


Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as liaison to ACCME, coordinate and manage the reaccreditation process; ensure continuous evaluation and improvements.
  • Provide consultation on best practices and ACCME compliance to Executive Team as it relates to educational activities and educational grants.
  • Serve as staff liaison to CME, Patient Safety and Symposium Committees, and additional task forces as assigned. Support overall education structure and day-to-day operations as it relates to these committees.
  • Manage and analyze the evaluation of educational activities.
  • Perform and document annual audit of educational program.
  • Input activity records into PARS.
  • Liaise with the grants manager, as needed, to optimize grant proposals, review agreements, and to monitor supported program content.
  • Assist with education marketing and communications to ensure compliance.
  • Work with the management team and collaborate to develop efficient processes (i.e., online disclosure of conflicts, COI mitigation mechanism, online evaluations, etc.).
  • Maintain ACCME accreditation. Monitor policies and procedures to ensure activities’ development, execution, and evaluation are documented as prescribed.
  • Document identified performance gaps, identify underlying educational needs.
  • Manage evaluation process to include compiling results and reporting post-event.
  • Utilize survey and evaluation data to track metrics of success of the association’s programming to inform future activities.
  • Manage the annual disclosure process.
  • Develop and improve procedural checklists, forms, and materials for documentation of the development and implementation of continuing education activities, safety tools, and other materials.
  • Ensure each quarterly newsletter has a safety article, an introduction by the Patient Safety Committee Chair, and a Scissors on the Seam, SOS, maintaining standardized formatting.
  • Manage the documentation of the jointly provided activities, using ACCME’s Structured Abstract.
  • Assist with logistics during meetings.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned.
  • Consistently demonstrate courteous, ethical, cooperative, accountable, and helpful behavior to all contacts, internal and external.

Education and Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience maintaining continuing medical education compliance according to ACCME standards.
  • Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
  • Strong knowledge of the MS Office suite of products.
  • Experience with NetForum Enterprise a plus.
  • Knowledge of learning management systems for potential implementation will be valued.
  • Excellent organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • The ideal candidate should be poised and mature with an ability to interact with physician members.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must be comfortable with meeting multiple deadlines while remaining flexible, efficient, and able to problem-solve proactively.
  • Ability to travel up to three times per year.
  • Position occasionally requires long hours and extensive movement throughout convention center facilities during our annual meeting.
